Consumables
Consumables are defined as goods that are used or ‘consumed’ by individuals and companies and after a period of time, must be replaced. The term consumables can encompass a wide variety of computer-related goods, which include:
- Printer accessories
- Ink Jet Cartridges
- Laser Toner for Printers
- Other disposable computer and electronic-related equipment
Consumables are also described as products that are bought over and over again. The time between each purchase can vary significantly, however. As a result, even products with long shelf lives can fall under the category as consumables.
Many foods, electronics, and every day household items can potentially fall into the consumables category.
In the world of computing, consumables are synonymous with inkjet printer cartridges or laser toner cartridges. Most printers on the market have a need for reusable black and multi-color inkjet printer cartridges. Computer printers will often give a notification when a printer cartridge needs to be replaced and therefore, the term consumables is often used interchangeably with inkjet printer cartridges.
According to BusinessDictionary.com, Consumables are defined as:
Goods which (1) are not used up or returned after distributed from stores, (2) become absorbed in other products and lose their identity, or (3) can’t be used for their original purpose without eliminating or changing their original makeup.
